Simple solutions
As global populations continue to grow and the demand for food increases, the agricultural industry is faced with the challenge of producing higher outputs while ensuring the safety and quality of crops.1–4 Stricter regulations regarding pesticide residues, environmental impact, and consumer health have necessitated the development of more sustainable and targeted crop protection methods.
Research plays a crucial role in ensuring global food security by safeguarding crops against insects, nematodes, diseases, and weeds. Worldwide crop yields are substantially reduced by weeds, insects, and fungal or other pathogens and stressors. Without effective crop protection, these losses would amount to 22–53% for the most economically important crops worldwide.
